The Chambers County Historical Commission presented the first place essay award for Anahuac to Kyrie George, 8th grade student at Anahuac Middle School.

The topic Ms. George chose to write on was “Haunted Places in Chambers County”. For first place, she was presented with a trophy and certificate from the Commission and a $50.00 Savings Bond donated by Security State Bank of Anahuac.

The Commission encourages all students to participate in the contest to help ensure the preservation of Chambers County’s vast history. The essays are being bound and will be retained in the Historical Museum/Archives Building for access by the public.

Ms. George is pictured receiving the award from Bob Wheat, Commission Chair, assisted by Yvonne Morgan, Chair of the Essay Committee.
