CHAMBERS COUNTY HISTORICAL COMMISSION
PRESENTS BARBERS HILL ESSAY AWARDS

The Chambers County Historical Commission presented awards to two Barbers Hill Middle School students for winning the annual history essay contest.

The first place winner was Autum Cook who wrote on "Haunted Places in Chambers County".

Autum won the first place trophy, a $50.00 savings bond donated by Security State Bank of Anahuac, and a certificate of participation.

The second place winner was Shay Coplin and her essay was titled “The Life and Death of Benjamin Barrow”. Shay’s prize was the second place trophy and a certificate of participation.

Some 150 Barbers Hill Middle School students participated in the contest and they are all commended for their effort.

The prizes were presented by Bob Wheat, Commission Chair with assistance from Yvonne Morgan, Chair of the Essay Contest and Kay Willcox, Commission Secretary.
